The WBBL side fall 81-57 against Leicester Riders in the WBBL Trophy Quarter Final.
Coming off a mid-week win against Cardiff Met Archers, Wolves came motivated to grab a win. The side started the game by scoring off second chance points as they grabbed eight offensive rebounds in the first quarter. Riders were patient on offence, allowing them to find good shots against the Oaklands hustle, ending the period 22-19.
Louise Rouse started well but got into early foul trouble which would limit her minutes for the game. Leicester now looked to play through forward Kate Oliver who scored and found open teammates from the high post.
As the home side looked to pull away, Wolves efforts on the offensive boards and 18 first half points from Greeta Uprus kept them in the game. With Rouse in foul trouble, the eight player team struggled to maintain their intensity and discipline in the second half.
Riders continued to look for Oliver and play much improved defence, taking a 66-45 to end the third quarter. Despite the deficit, Oaklands played until the end but it was too much to overcome as the game finished 81-57.
Uprus led Wolves with 22 points on 66 FG%, while Rouse scored 13 points in just 19 minutes.
Oliver and Holly Winterburn had impressive performances for Riders as Oliver finished with 23 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists while Winterburn had 21 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists.
Oaklands will look to get revenge against Leicester as they face the side in their next regular season game.
