Oaklands Wolves are excited to announce Shanice Beckford-Norton as their opening signing for the 2024/25 season!
The Eurocup winner will join the program in both a playing and coaching capacity as she also becomes the new Head Coach of the academy girls program. With previous coaching credentials at Kingston Lions and a phenomenal community coaching resume to her name, Shanice will utilise her experience as a coach and player to help shape the futures of our Oaklands academy players.
The former LSU college graduate also enjoyed a spell in Germany with Heidelberg in 2020 before returning to the UK to the London Lions. The Great British payer is currently with the senior national team at the pre-qualifying tournament in Rwanda, and playing a key role in GBs pursuit of Wold Cup qualification.
One of the most consistent performers in the London Lions rise to domination in recent seasons, the 5’8 guard will bring leadership as well as her explosive game to the St Albans franchise. Having won everything there is to win in the domestic game on multiple occasions, coach Ryan will be looking to Shanice to put the Wolves up the table this season.
He said “We are incredibly lucky to have Shanice join our program, she brings a wealth of experience and quality after the unbelievable success she had as club captain of the London Lions. It’s a sign of what’s to come from Oaklands as we continue to progress as a franchise. We are already recognised as a leader in the academy space and adding to Shanice to the coaching staff only enhances that reputation. We have equal ambitions with our womens team and signing Shanice takes us a step closer to realising our potential as a program.”
